ENGL161 is a 1^st semester, 1^st year English language course. It is designed to help students improve the level of their English to halfway towards A1 level, as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. ENGL171 is a 1^st semester 1^st year English Language course. It aims to develop all four skills. By the end of this course, students are expected to improve the level of their English to A1 as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).  The course is for Turkish Medium Programs.

ENGL172 is a 2^nd  semester 1^st year English Language course. It aims to further develop all four skills. By the end of this course, students are expected to further improve the level of their English to A1+ as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).  The course is for Turkish Medium Programs.

ENGL 203 is a basic Vocational English course offered in the third semester. The course aims to revise technical terms and knowledge while using a range of skills, including reading, writing, and oral communication skills. Throughout the course, the students will focus on tasks that intend to help them in their immediate and future academic and professional life. The tasks selected for this course will be parallel with topics covered in their field of study. Therefore, students will not only have the opportunity to digest those topics but they will also practise the English language.

This is an intensive writing course which aims to further improve the writing skills of students. Writing skills are essential to academic success and this course will help them better cope with their academic studies and increase their self-confidence in academic writing. Specifically, this course will focus on helping students to write clear, well organized and well developed work, using a wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures. This course will also help students evaluate more critically their own work and that of others.

ENGL255 is a 1^st semester, 2^nd year course. It is a sophomore legal English course for the students in the Faculty of Law. It is designed to help students improve the level of their English to B1 level, as specified in the CEFR. The main focus of the course is on the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in legal English as well as legal jargon.

ENGL256 is a 2^nd semester, 2^nd year course. It is a sophomore legal English course for the students in the Faculty of Law. It is designed to help students improve the level of their English partially to B1 level, as specified in the CEFR. The main focus of the course is on the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in legal English as well as legal jargon.

ENGL352 is a 1^st  semester, 3^rd year course. It is an English course which aims to teach Legal English starting at the foundation level. It also prepares students for TOLES (Test of legal English Skills). Contact hours are three hours per week. The course is for the Faculty of Law.

This course is intended for both two-year and the four-year program students who are at B1+ level of English according to CEFR. The purpose of this course is to consolidate and develop students' knowledge and ability to understand and use familiar tourism related expressions and specific practical needs in connection with tourism, recreation and culinary issues. The prime focus will be on the further reading, speaking, listening and writing skills in job related settings, and on improving study skills in general.

The ENGL106 is a 2^nd semester, 1^st year ESP course at the Facutly of Tourism. This course is intended for both the two-year and the four-year program students who are at B2 level of English according to CEFR. The main emphasis is placed on the strategies necessary for effective professional communication. Thus the course provides guidance and a context for developing reading and writing skills, as well as offering students specially designed speaking classes once a week.

The ENGL107 is 1^st semester, 1^st year ESP course of the Culinary Arts Programme at the Faculty of Tourism. This course is intended for the two-year students who are at A1 level of English according to CEFR. Throughout the semester, the students will study grammar and culinary arts terminology as well as tenses. The aim of this course is to further equip students with general and specific English terminology and expressions that will help them to understand basic cooking instructions and to give systematic instuructions for preparing recipes.

The ENGL108 is a 2^nd semester, 1^st year ESP course of the Culinary Arts programme at the Faculty of Tourism. This course is intended for both the two-year students who are at A2 level of English according to CEFR. Throughout the semester the students will study grammar and culinary arts terminology as well as tenses. The course aims to reconsolidate and develop students' knowledge and awareness of academic discourse, language structures, and critical thinking.  The course also incorporates use of technologies that will promote self-study and Microsoft computer skills. The course will focus on reading, writing, listening, speaking and introducing documentation, and will also focus on presentation skills in academic settings.

ENGL201 is a communication skills course for students at the Faculty of Engineering. The course aims to introduce a range of skills and study skills. Throughout the course the students will be involved in project work intended to help them in their immediate and future academic and professional life.

It is designed to help students improve the level of their English to B1 level, as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The main focus will mainly be on the development of language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Moreover, the improvement of general academic study skills necessary in an academic setting will be introduced.

The ENGL185 is a 1^st semester, 1^st year complementary English course. It is designed to help students improve the level of their English to B1 level, as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The main focus will mainly be on the development of language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Moreover, the improvement of general academic study skills necessary in an academic setting will be introduced.

This course aims to orientate students to the demands of academic life, develop general knowledge and critical thinking skills, and improve communication skills. This specific course aims to enhance students' abilities of public speaking in academic settings in terms of various speech events such as informative speech, seminar, persuasive speech and debate. Therefore, students will be given the opportunity to express opinion, give information, persuade, agree and disagree with their classmates in a real context. While practicing these skills, students will be required to read academic texts both to develop their abilities in coping vocabulary and comprehension of the text besides widening their perspectives on the raised issues.

This course is designed for the students of the Health Sciences Faculty who need to read and understand the documents and reference books in English to be able to digest and comprehend for their future careers. The purpose of this course is to further consolidate and develop students' knowledge and awarenes of medical response, languae structures and lexis in their level. The prime focus will be on the further development of reading in academic and medical settings, and on improving study skills in general. In addition this course is designed to help students improve their vocational English to A2 level as specified in the Common European Framework of References for languages. The course aims to familiarize students' knowledge of vocational English in the field of Health Sciences through raising awareness of useful language structures, vocabulary, reading and note taking.

This course is offered for the Health Sciences Faculty, Nursing Department students. The students are at A2 level according to the CEFR. This course is designed to improve the communication skills and English Language knowledge of health care with an emphasis on listening and speaking. The course covers core areas of nursing such as patient admission, taking medical specimens and post operation assessment. The tasks and activities are designed based on everyday nursing scenarios to make the course relevant and motivating.

This course is advanced reading skills for academic study. This course will develop students' awareness of the reading process for academic purposes. It is designed to improve reading and critical thinking skills. Topics include vocabulary enhancement; extracting implied meaning; analyzing author's purpose, tone, and style; and drawing conclusions and responding to written material. Some sections may specialize in discipline-specific reading and academic success skills. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and analyze university-level reading material. Students will also do extensive reading outside of class to develop their interest in reading English and enhance learner autonomy.

The ENGL523 is a post-graduate academic English course. The purpose of this course is to develop the academic writing skills of MA/MS and Ph.D. candidates. The prime focus will be on examining authentic academic texts, and analysing such elements as structure, lexis, and style in theses and dissertations. Participants will then be invited to exploit this detailed understanding of textual dynamics in their own writing and helped to produce work that is accurate, concise, and appropriate.
