Very Important Announcements : Office 365 E-mail Accounts and Virtual Learning Environment for EMU Students

Published Date: Monday, 23 March 2020

Dear Students,

As you know, you have been using the e-mail address yourstudentnumber@students.emu.edu.tr allocated to you by the university. For some time, our university has been working in collaboration with Microsoft to switch to Office 365 email and applications for the use of our staff. Now our university has also decided to offer the said service to our students. Towards meeting this purpose, the university has completed the necessary corporate subscription and automatic account opening procedures for all our students. In this regard, the address of your e-mail account, which has been opened for you and can be used over the Office 365 system, will be “ studentnumber@emu.edu.tr ”.

Each student with a Microsoft Office365 subscription will also be able to use the new e-mail system which has an increased quota of 50 GB.

One of the most important advantages of this new application during these days is that the online courses that will commence soon will be delivered through Microsoft Teams using the same Office365 account (or e-mail account).

For this reason, we kindly ask you to log on to your university account as soon as possible as shown below and check your e-mail account frequently to see the e-mails or announcements sent to you by the University administration or faculty members

As of now, all students are able to use their new e-mail (or Office 365) accounts via the address https://login.microsoftonline.com

Access to our campus' wireless network connection Eduroam will be possible with the same user information (studentnumber@emu.edu.tr) and password.

So, what kind of advantages will be provided with Office 365?

1. You will be using your email address as yourstudentnumber@emu.edu.tr .

2. The quota of your email address is 50 GB and it may later be increased.

3. You will have a OneDrive account where you can safely store your files, pictures, videos, and notes.

4. By using OneDrive, which has a 1TB space, you will be able to securely share your files both with your friends and instructors, and you can work on files collaboratively if you wish.

5. By using Microsoft Teams, You will be able to attend online classes opened by your instructors, save your course notes, and participate in classes in an interactive way.

6. You will be able to make video / voice calls using Skype for Business with your Office 365 account.

7. If you need, you will be able to use Office Programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint) online.

How to Log on to Your Office 365 Account?

You will be able to log into your Office 365 account at https://login.microsoftonline.com with yourstudentnumber@emu.edu.tr as your username and the password you use when logging into the system.

You can easily set up your e-mail accounts as Exchange / Office365 on windows, IOS or Android operating systems.

If you encounter problems whilst logging into your account or installing applications, please contact the faculty / department system administrator or the Computer Center.

Seizing this opportunity, we would like you to know that our university will continue to provide the best educational opportunities for our students in this difficult process and that all administrators and faculty members are currently working towards fulfilling this purpose. We will soon start providing information on how to benefit from these educational opportunities through the e-mail system, the web page of our university and other electronic environments.

Please check your office 365 (e-mail) account frequently.

You can send an email to report an issue or to get support emucc-support@emu.edu.tr

We also advise you to check the websites of other learning management systems (e.g. "opencourses.emu.edu.tr", "google classroom" etc.) that have already been used in your lessons for possible announcements.

Eastern Mediterranean University is a powerful University. In these difficult days, the university will not leave her students alone and without support.

We wish you all and your families healthy days.
