Name of the Project: Discovering Turkish Cypriot Culture

The aim of the 'Discovering Turkish Cypriot Culture' Community Involvement Project is for our students to learn about and experience the traditions and the culture of Northern Cyprus. By learning about Northern Cyprus, students will be able to integrate into the local community more easily, build friendships, share information about their own cultures, and develop their own skills and abilities. Overall, this project provides students with the opportunity to increase their awareness of Turkish Cypriot culture and compare it with their own culture.
Please note as the aim of this project is to familiarise Turkish and foreign students with Turkish Cypriot culture, it's kindly requested that Cypriot students register for other projects.
VISIT 1: Arabahmet Mosque, Derviş Paşa Mansion, Büyük Han and Selimiye
Mosque (Nicosia) (Observing the Cypriot culture and history)
VISIT 2:. Salamis Ruins, Olive Oil Mill (Çayırova) and Mehmetçik village (Observing
village life and tasting Turkish Cypriot food).

Aim of the project:
- To derive students' awareness towards the environment and to create the feeling of responsibility towards our society and environment.
- To take an active role in a project that would make our environment a better place to live.
Visit 1: Nature Walk, Büyükkonuk Village
Objectives: to guide the students to observe the nature and gain more environmental awareness.
Backup: In case the weather is not suitable for outdoor activities, students will prepare leaflets in their classrooms on environmental issues and walk around the building and distribute the leaflets to raise awareness on the issue.
Visit 2: Litter Collection, Bedis Picnic Area
Objectives: to engage the students in litter collection and to increase recycling awareness.

Objectives: Observing the staff and the place and taking notes for the follow up class activities.
Students will observe the place and the staff there. They will have conversations with them, ask for information and take notes and photos for the following classroom activities.

Name of the Project: The Biking Club
Project Teacher: Munise Keşanlı

Aim of the project:
- To promote cycling as an aid to our physical and mental health
- To educate members and the general public in safe cycling
- To encourage more people to cycle in order to reduce our carbon footprint
- To raise awareness towards the benefits of cycling
Visit 1: Cycling to EMU Roundabout & Gloria Jeans
Objectives: The first aim is to educate members and the general public / drivers in safe cycling. The second aim is to give the students social responsibility to distribute leaflets which will be prepared by them in advance; informing the public about the benefits of cycling and the third aim is to detect the problems about cycling in the streets of Famagusta.
Backup: In case the weather is not suitable for outdoor activities, students will prepare leaflets in their classrooms on the benefits of cycling and walk to EMU main campus and distribute the leaflets to raise awareness towards the issue.
Visit 2: Cycling to the Famagusta Municipality
Objectives: Cycling to the Municipality Building & submitting a petition to the Mayor of Famagusta. As we face problems while cycling in the streets, we aim to write and submit an informative petition to the mayor of Famagusta and in order to take one step forward for the safety of cyclists.
